Impact

The University Maths Schools Network delivers world-class education and life-changing opportunities, raising aspirations and achievement in maths across the UK

At the heart of the University Maths Schools Network is a belief that mathematics can transform futures.

Together, we nurture talent, champion equity and excellence, and extend opportunities so more young people can thrive.

The impact data below shows how this vision is already being realised.

Outstanding Success

Our schools set the standard for outstanding success, enabling young people to excel academically and grow in confidence.

All inspected schools graded Outstanding
Every University Maths School inspected by Ofsted has been rated Outstanding in all areas.

22% to Oxford or Cambridge
In 2024, more than one in five students secured a place at Oxford or Cambridge.

+0.6 grade uplift
On average, students achieve +0.6 of a grade higher between GCSE and A Level compared with peers nationally.

79% to Russell Group universities
Nearly four in five students progressed to a Russell Group university

“It gave me an environment where people cared about excellence. Being surrounded by brilliant peers pushed me to raise my game. At King’s, no one made fun of you for working hard – everyone was inspired to do more.” Eito Miyamura

Equity and Excellence

At U-Maths, we believe equity and excellence go hand in hand. Our schools combine world-class teaching with inclusive practices, ensuring every student can achieve their full potential.

13% of students are eligible for Free School Meals, over 2.5 times the national rate among Further Maths students.

Students with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) are eight times more likely to be represented than nationally, thriving in our specialist environments.

Nearly a third of our students are female, helping to close the gender gap in STEM.

Extending Our Reach

The impact of Maths Schools extends far beyond their own classrooms. Through outreach programmes, mentoring, and teacher training, our schools support 4000 students and 400 teachers across the year.

This “halo effect” strengthens regional maths education and helps raise standards for all learners.
